Sharon Lewis

Principal, Doby's Mill Elementary School

It is my honor to serve as the principal of Doby’s Mill Elementary and to be a proud member of our amazing Dolphin family. From the moment I stepped onto campus, I knew I had found something truly special—a place where joy, learning, and community come together to create a school where everyone can thrive.

My journey in education began in Georgia in 1991, where I started teaching in early childhood classrooms. A few years later, I had the opportunity to continue teaching here in South Carolina before life took me west to Arkansas. From 2007 to 2017, I served as both an assistant principal and principal in the Bentonville School District. While in Arkansas, I also worked as an adjunct professor at NorthWest Arkansas Community College and John Brown University, helping to guide and inspire the next generation of educators. Eventually, life brought me back to South Carolina, where I taught at the elementary level for several years before thankfully finding my way here to Kershaw County School District and Doby's Mill Elementary.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Walden University. Over the years, I’ve come to believe that the best schools are built on strong relationships, clear purpose, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every child and adult on campus.

I am absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and families of Doby’s Mill. With a deep passion for helping others succeed, I’m committed to continuing the positive school culture which exists here; inspiring, empowering, and building strong character in all in a place where every Dolphin thrives.

Outside of school, I’m the proud mom of two grown children, Jacob and Emily, and a “Lolli” to my granddaughter, Sutton.

Serving as the principal of Doby’s Mill is both a privilege and a joy, in which I am thankful for, having the opportunity to grow, lead, and learn alongside this wonderful school community.
